Top 10 reasons why JWs don't have the truth - please contribute
by oldlightnewshite ini thought it would be an interesting exercise to ask everybody on here what their 'top 10 reasons why jws don't have the truth' actually were.
maybe we can see some correlating views/patterns/ideas that may help us de-programme the newbies that come on this site.
if eventually most people have an outstanding gripe/concern it'll help everybody understand the ex-jw mindset a little better.

Can you get D'fd for Gluttony?
by MMXIV inthe recent story by confuzzled777 about being d'fd for drinking a few times got me thinking.
what about gluttony?.
some scriptures that spring to mind are proverbs 23:2, i cor 6:9-10 etc.. has anyone you know been d'fd for gluttony?

i was disfellowshipped on january 28th 2010 after an "interview" about an evening of bowling with friends and family back in november 2009. i was among 4 who were disfellowshipped and 6 who were publicly reproved.

I see, well I am open minded and decided to add this to the discussion, I still don't entirely understand your posts because I was just adding a book I found interesting and different.
And the fact remains that the bible's teaching on trinity is not entirely clear as the teaching of God's nature is obscure, and the bible also makes the point that its not for us to understand, that understanding would mean to be like God. Also the prophets and apostles did not teach trinity.

To add to this discussion, I found chapter nine of Eric Chang's book about John1:1 interesting and different, that the bible does not show the "word" to refer to Jesus, and other interesting stuff.

My grandma called me child of Satan
by Newborn inmy grandma is 85 and still a jw (i don't think she's one of the best though).
i guess she's been hoping that i would come back but when we met this summer and she realised i'm together with a "worldly" man she understood i'm not planning to come back at all.
(btw she shouldn't see me at all in the first place since i've left but she's been "tolerant" abt that).

Newborn when you say brain washed that's true, I get crap from my parents but they just don't understand, they think they do but they don't, reality is tuff but I wouldn't give up on them, remember that they don't know any better even if they think they do. Saying that, maybe the worst thing you could do is get even.
Maybe if you ask your family for help regarding bible topics(not to confront them), hearing them, then showing your point as to why you are having difficulties reconciling, you will have a higher rate of opening their eyes.
